The Move:

We bought a secondhand 20 foot shipping container through the company that my son, Edward works for. They kindly stored it in their yard in Felixstowe docks for us whilst we  packed the house contents into cardboard boxes and brought them down to the container in batches.

My parents will be joining us next year, and we hired a box van and moved some of their furniture to the container too.

Graciela left for Buenos Aires on the 28th October and I was finishing work on the 2nd November with the intention of spending about 10 days packing the last of the things into the container, saying goodbye to everyone, and then flying out to Buenos Aires.

But the container had to be filled by the 6th, so I hired the box van for the 4th and took everything possible down in one huge load!

In the end we had to partially unload the container into another one, sort out what was to go where, and reload our container.  A big thank you to Edward and all at DHL who helped out in loading and packing the container.

Welcome to our finca, “La Alondra Infinita”.

This brand new blog is, we think, the best way of keeping in contact with our friends in England and the world. We will post, as frequently as possible, news and pictures on our work and life in Argentina. Bear in mind that, at first, we will have neither Internet, electricity, tap water,  nor a roof…

We will start with 10 has. of land (blank), with irrigation, 9 oak trees, some fruit trees and lots of weeds.
